 Welcome!

Hello!  I am an Assistant Professor in the Psychology Department at the University of Denver where I belong to the Child Clinical, Cognitive, and Developmental Cognitive Neuroscience Programs.

My research focuses on the relationship between violence, emotion, cognitive processes, and posttraumatic distress. This research draws on multiple methodologies (e.g., laboratory cognitive tasks, clinical interviews, survey methodology), as well as theories from diverse psychological perspectives.

I direct the Traumatic Stress Studies Group, which involves post-doc, graduate and undergraduate researchers.  We collaborate with colleagues in Denver and worldwide.  We pursue several lines of research with both children and adults.

I completed my doctoral training at the University of Oregon and my clinical internship at the University of Washington School of Medicine. I am a licensed clinical psychologist in Colorado. I hope you find these pages useful to learn more about the work we do in the Traumatic Stress Studies Group.

Why the Utah landscape above?  This photo was taken by Susan Buckingham in Canyonlands National Park, which is one of my most favorite places.
