Faculty Core Committee (FCC)

The initial Faculty Core Committee was established in the Fall quarter of the 2000-01 academic year.  The FCC is charged with oversight of the Core Curriculum and policies related to its implementation.  The initial committee consisted of ten faculty members (2 from each division; AHSS, NSM, SECS, DCB, GSIS), who each serve a two year term.

The FCC elects a chair from the committee and this person must have been a serving member of the committee for a minimum of one year in order to be eligible to serve as the committee chair.   Committee members are elected through their divisional election process and each serve two year terms.

FCC Responsibilities

The FCC is primarily responsible for the approval of new Core courses.  The established process for the new course approvals allows for two separate rounds each academic year when proposals are reviewed.
