Converting to Writing Intensive

The Faculty Core Committee has approved a streamlined process to change existing Core courses to writing intensive. To meet increased need, we welcome new proposals.  Writing intensive courses are capped at 15 students, offering an intimate teaching environment. If you are interested in changing your Core course to writing intensive, the Writing Intensive Conversion Form, listed below, should be completed and submitted to the Core Office during the regular call for Core proposals.

Once your proposal is reviewed and approved by the Faculty Core Committee, you will be required to attend a workshop organized by Doug Hesse before the course can be scheduled.  The workshop will include discussion and practical advice on assignment and course design, efficiently responding to student papers, and useful activities to help student writers. Upon completion of the workshop, you will receive a stipend of $1,000, and by completing an optional article you will receive an additional $500.

If you would like more information regarding Writing Intensive Core Courses, see the Writing Program website. For more information related to the Writing Workshops, including dates and times, follow this link .
