University Undergraduate Requirements  (U-Reqs)

The university requirements for the baccalaureate degree are divided into two components: the Foundations (the lower division requirements) and the Core (the upper division requirements).  Students may enroll in Core courses after completing their Foundational requirements in their freshmen and sophomore years and when they have acquired junior standing.

The Core component will consist of the following:

Three 4-hour thematic Core courses that are integrative over more than one discipline and fit into one of the three Core themes:  Communities and Environments, Self and Identities, and Change and Continuity.  All students will take one course from each of these three themes.

The themes reflect explicit priorities of the University's mission statement, including internationalization, multiculturalism, the history of cultural experience, environmental responsibility, awareness of the social consequences of technological innovation and selection, ethics, and civic engagement.
