Careers in Anthropology

A degree in anthropology starts with foundational skills in critical reading, thinking, writing and research that can prepare you for a career that involves working with diverse groups of people, from law to medicine to education and more. Our graduates go on to careers in museum work, archaeology, cultural heritage management, non-profit management, marketing and publishing, international business and development, foreign policy and health care.

DU Museum of Anthropology & Community Partnerships

Students have the opportunity to pair learning with hands on experience at the DUMA, home to more than 100,000 unique ethnographic and archaeological artifacts, and through our community partnerships with local museums and cultural organizations.

Using historical records, ground-penetrating radar technology and archaeological excavation, the Campus Archaeology initiative uncovers the many histories of DU’s campus grounds.

The Ethnography Lab is a hub of faculty and student collaboration, mentorship and tutoring in ethnographic research methods. The Lab also offers students and faculty a catalyst that helps build sustainable collaborations and partnerships beyond DU.

Lambda Alpha

Lambda Alpha is the National Collegiate Honors Society for Anthropology. Its mission is to encourage and stimulate scholarship and research in anthropology by recognizing and honoring superior achievement in the discipline, as well as enriching the educational experience and fostering community and collaboration between students, faculty and other persons engaged in the study of anthropology.
