The Humanities Institute is a community outreach initiative for the University of Denver whose primary mission is to help build a better Colorado by enriching the community culturally.

The Institute bridges the scholarly pursuits of the University faculty in Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences with the people of our state. It provides a public forum for local and national speakers on current issues of importance, and seeks to enliven a stimulating academic discourse among the University's faculty on campus.

Academic Events for the Community

The Humanities Institute sponsors highly successful Salons in the Denver community, many of which sell out almost immediately. The Institute promotes campus events of local significance, and sponsors lectures by distinguished Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences faculty members such as Bin Ramke (English), Art Jones (Psychology), and Ricardo Iznaola (Lamont School of Music).

The annual Tables of Content dinners allow members of the community to meet and get acquainted with some of Colorado's resident authors in the intimate setting of a private dinner party.

The Jeff Bradley Travel Awards allow students at the Lamont School of Music the opportunity to further their careers by entering competitions, traveling to auditions, or participating in conferences and festivals.

Our generous donors are recognized as "Friends of the Humanities Institute." Their contributions are entirely tax-deductible, and go a long way towards supporting the mission and programs of the Humanities Institute.
