McNees has been a DU faculty member since 1985. She has served as director of Graduate Studies and as chair in the English department, and has participated on major committees throughout campus, often taking on leadership roles. Recent contributions include chairing the Internationalization Advisory Board, serving as the Steering Committee and Report Coordinator for DU's NCAA reaccreditation, and participating on the Task Force on Scholarship, Research and Creativity. As associate dean, she will build on existing professional development programs, play a key role in the implementation of initiatives related to faculty success, and sit ex officio on committees.
In addition to her book, Eucharistic Poetry, McNees has edited three collections of critical essays and published book chapters, and other essays on Victorian and modern literature. Her courses on the Grand Tour, Italy, Virginia Woolf, and bibliographical methods are sought after by students, as is her guidance as an advisor.
