Choirs

All members of the DU community are encouraged to audition for the choirs at Lamont. Auditions for Lamont Chorale, Men's Choir and Women's Chorus are held the first week of fall classes in the Newman Center for the Performing Arts, room 411. The audition includes an optional solo song in any style, vocalizing and assessment of aural and sight reading skills. Credits earned through participation in a choir may be applied to the creative expression core requirement. For further information, contact Dr. Catherine Sailer at csailer@du.edu.

Auditions for the Spirituals Project Choir are held by appointment with the director. For further information, contact Prof. M. Roger Holland II at Roger.Holland@du.edu.

Lamont Chorale

The Lamont Chorale consists of a select mixed choir that is committed to the highest level of artistic excellence. The Chorale is primarily music majors, but non-music majors are encouraged to audition.

Rehearsals are Mondays from 5-6 p.m. and Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2-3:50 pm.

Lamont Men's Choir

The Lamont Men's Choir performs spirited repertoire for male voices and comprises singers from the entire DU community.

Rehearsals are Mondays and Wednesdays from 5-6:30 p.m.

Lamont Women's Chorus

The Lamont Women's Chorus specializes in the diverse repertoire for treble voices and comprises singers from the entire DU community.

Rehearsals are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4-5:50 p.m.

American Heritage Chorale

M. Roger Holland II, Director

The American Heritage Chorale explores through choral music the various ways in which music written by American composers has been influenced by and has its roots in music from other cultures and regions of the globe. Special attention is given to music by African American composers.

American Heritage Chorale is open to all students interested in singing. Prior choral experience is not required. A brief vocal interview will determine appropriate placement within the ensemble.

Rehearsals are Mondays and Wednesdays from 12-1:50 p.m.

Spirituals project choir

The Spirituals Project was founded to preserve and revitalize the music and teachings of the sacred folk songs called "spirituals," created and first sung by African Americans in slavery. The choir's repertoire highlights these spirituals, but also includes music from the African American experience. 

The choir is open to all DU community members.

Rehearsals are Mondays from 7-9 p.m.
