Lamont School of Music

A Message from the Director

Lamont is an extraordinary place where students, faculty and audiences gather daily to participate in a dynamic musical adventure. An intimate school, we offer individualized training to 300 undergraduate and graduate students in a nurturing atmosphere that allows their individual artistry and intellect to blossom. We boast an exceptional faculty of teaching artists and scholars who record, tour, perform, publish, and present scholarly work and compositions locally, nationally, and internationally.

In addition to working with our faculty, our students benefit from playing in outstanding ensembles, both large and small. The more than 300 performances annually include two fully-staged opera/musical productions and multiple orchestral, choral, wind, jazz, and chamber music concerts. Lamont's home is the magnificent Robert and Judi Newman Center for the Performing Arts, located on the University's main campus.

The Lamont School of Music is an accredited member of the National Association of Schools of Music and offers a wide range of undergraduate and graduate degree programs as well as certificates and an Artist Diploma. I hope you will consider Lamont as a place where your talents can be nurtured, you can prepare yourself for a rewarding career in music, or you can enjoy our concerts and events.

I invite you to browse our website and learn more about who we are and what we offer.

Sincerely,

Nancy Cochran
