Requirements for Minor

Students interested in studying Hebrew can choose from two undergraduate degree programs:

  • Minor in Hebrew
  • Minor in Judaic studies with an emphasis in Hebrew

MINOR IN HEBREW

The minor in Hebrew is offered through the Department of Languages and Literatures at the University of Denver.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in the Hebrew language equivalent to one year (HEBR 1001, 1002, 1003)
  • A minimum of 20 quarter hours of approved Hebrew courses
  • Twelve of the 20 quarter hours must be from HEBR 2001, 2002 and 2003
  • Four of the 20 quarter hours must be from HEBR 2745
  • Four of the 20 quarter hours must be from HEBR 3010

Note: HEBR 2745 and HEBR 3010 are offered alternatively every winter.

MINOR IN JUDAIC STUDIES WITH AN EMPHASIS IN HEBREW

The minor in Judaic studies with an emphasis in Hebrew is offered in collaboration with the Center for Judaic Studies at the University of Denver.

The Judaic studies program combines courses from several disciplines and departments. Visit the CJS website for course listings and more information.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in the Hebrew language equivalent to one year (HEBR 1001, 1002, 1003)
  • A minimum of 20 quarter hours of approved Judaic studies courses
  • Twelve of the 20 quarter hours must be from HEBR 2001, 2002 and 2003
  • Sixteen of the 20 quarter hours must be from four courses at or above the 2000 level

The following courses can be used to satisfy the requirements for a minor in Judaic studies with an emphasis in Hebrew:

  • HEBR 2745: Israeli Television and Cinema: Representing Cultural Diversity in Israeli Life
  • HEBR 3010: Aspects of Modern Hebrew: Reading, Films, Songs and Discussion
