Note: In addition to the scholarships described below, the Anna Maglione-Sie Endowment provides undergraduate scholarships for students majoring in Italian.

DANTE SOCIETY ACADEMIC SHCOLARSHIP 2015

The Dante Society has established these awards to enable qualified students to advance their study of the Italian language, culture or history. These are one-time, non-renewable awards.

Eligibility

    To be granted one of these awards, the student must be able to document acceptance to an established study program of Italian language, culture or history.

CLARA ROSEN MUSIC SCHOLARSHIPS

Clara Rosen music awards are given to current students of the Lamont School of Music. The awards provide financial support for costs related to musical training and/or performance.

Eligibility

  • Undergraduate or graduate students in good academic standing
  • Currently enrolled at the University of Denver
  • Acceptance into a music program in Italy
  • Sufficient knowledge of Italian as required by the program

Grant recipients are chosen based on musical ability and financial need.

The application for the 2015-2016 academic year will be available online in early 2015.

TAGLIALAVORE ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP FUND

Established in 2006 by Vincent and Gay Taglialavore, the Taglialavore Endowed Scholarship Fund provides financial support to DU Italian majors who are studying abroad in Italy or who have an interest in the Italian language.

Taglialavore Italian scholars are chosen based on academic merit and demonstrated financial need.

Typically, applications are due in mid-April. To apply:

  1. Log in to PioneerWeb.
  2. Go to the Student tab.
  3. Find the Financial Aid Information box.
  4. Click on the DU Departmental Scholarship Application link.
  5. Complete the universal application.

The Amici Grant

The AMICI of the University of Denver supports the educational exchange of students between the University of Denver and Italy by funding grants for study abroad in Italy.

Eligibility

  • Undergraduate or graduate student in good academic standing
  • Currently enrolled at the University of Denver
  • Acceptance into a study abroad or music program in Italy
  • Sufficient knowledge of Italian as required by the program
  • Preference will be given to majors or minors in the DU Italian Program

Grant recipients will be selected on the basis of the strength of their application.

The application deadline is March 27, 2015.

Il Circolo Italiano Scholarship

Il Circolo Italiano is a non-profit non-denominational group founded in 1953. Il Circolo Italiano awards scholarships to students studying in Colorado, enabling them to study in Italy.

Eligibility

  • Undergraduate or graduate student in good academic standing
  • Must be enrolled in second semester/quarter of sophomore year
  • Have a letter of acceptance from the study program in Italy.
  • Have a workable understanding of the Italian language
  • Must attend a college in Colorado
  • Must be a U.S. citizen

The application deadline is March 30, 2015.

To apply, fill out the application form and the financial information form. Make sure to include all parts of the application outlined in the application form.
