Master of Arts
Once you've met our MA program admission requirements and have been accepted into our program, you must complete:
- 45-quarter hours of philosophy credits and an additional 45 in your other master's program. *You may propose to reduce this amount by a maximum of 10-quarter hours under appropriate circumstances, as specified by the Office of Graduate Studies' policies and procedures (PDF).
- a comprehensive exam covering the history of Western philosophy, and a portfolio paper approved by a committee of three department faculty members.
- an oral defense covering both the comprehensive exam on the history of philosophy and the portfolio paper.
- requirements beyond the coursework within the dual MA in religious studies (or other approved area).
