Thank you for visiting the website of the Department of Political Science at the University of Denver.
In our department, we seek a balance between scholarship and teaching, and we believe that excellence in one can produce excellence in the other.
Our faculty members are deeply engaged in cutting-edge research on a vast range of political questions, including the role of race and religion in politics, the power of corporations, and the importance of rules and partisanship in legislatures.
We seek to involve students in this research, debating scholarly questions in classes and occasionally partnering with students on specific projects.
We're particularly proud that the University of Denver hosted the first presidential debate of the 2012 election cycle. Several of our fall classes—including Peter Hanson's campaigns and elections class, and my own political internships class—took advantage of this unique opportunity, providing students with ways to observe, analyze and participate in the debate events on campus.
I hope you will find answers to all your questions about our department on this site. Please do not hesitate to contact me with further questions.
