Events

The Department of Religious Studies works to bring together thinkers, researchers, students and community leaders around the subject of religion and how it impacts contemporary society. From the annual Kirk Lecture to departmental gatherings, research presentations and the range of community activities always happening on and off campus, there's no shortage of ways to stay involved.

James Kirk Lectureship

Our department launched the Kirk Lecture program in the 1990s, seeking to bring cutting-edge research in the field of religious studies to the DU community. It's an opportunity each year for students to meet acclaimed faculty and researchers from other institutions and organizations, as well as a chance to expand on the mission of community engagement that shapes our educational approach. Previous years' lectures have focused on the transformation of religious texts in the digital age and the influence of religion on how evolution is taught in American schools.
