Each tenure-track faculty member in AHSS receives an annual fund of $500 for professional development. Professional development is broadly defined to include expenses related to the individual's role as a faculty member. Examples include books, software, computer equipment, professional memberships, travel or research-related expenses.
Approval for specific use of these funds resides with the department chair. All purchases must follow University purchasing policy. All equipment and supplies purchased with these funds are owned by the University.
Professional development funds are governed by the fiscal year structure of the University's budget. They must be expended and reimbursed within the current fiscal year (July 1 - June 30).
