Interests:

Elizabeth Suter's scholarship examines issues of identity, sexuality, and race in families, and has been foundational to the emerging body of qualitative research on the family. Her research appears in the Journal of Family Communication, Journal of Social and Personal Relationships, Western Journal of Communication, Journal of Family Issues, Women and Language, The Communication Review, Journal of Lesbian Studies, The Qualitative Report, and Sex Roles. Elizabeth?s co-authored article, "Negotiating heteronormativity dialectically: Lesbian couples? display of symbols in couples" received the B. Aubrey Fisher Outstanding Journal Article Award from the Western States Communication Association.
