Information for Existing Majors

The Department of Communication Studies is excited to launch a new Communication Studies Major, officially starting in Fall 2010.  We encourage all current majors to consider switching to our new major: (learn more). If you choose the new major, you can learn how the courses you have already taken transfer to the new major by reading the information below.  If you want to graduate with a degree in Communication Studies (the new major), you will need to fill out a major change form and switch from a Communication Major to a Communication Studies Major. We have also posted below tentative course offerings for 2010-11 to help you plan. Communication Studies advisors are happy to meet with you to discuss your plan of study.

We are committed to continuing to offer the old major modules, but they are only available to Communication Majors who have declared their major by Spring 2010.  You can view the old major module forms here: Interpersonal and Family Communication, Communication and Culture, and General Communication.  The course substitution information necessary to complete your major is explained below. Communication Studies advisors are happy to meet with you to discuss your plan of study and can be contacted at ugradcomn@du.edu.
