Interests:

Dr. Hao's research focuses on the performances, constructions, and (re)presentations of transnational diasporic hybrid identities, Asian Pacific Americans, and other marginalized groups in popular culture, education, online environments, and other everyday contexts.  Some of his research has been or will be published in New Directions for Teaching and Learning, Teaching Ideas for the Basic Communication Course, and edited books on interracial communication and pedagogy.  He has received Top Four Paper Awards from National Communication Association’s Ethnography and Spiritual Communication Divisions, and a Top Paper Award from the Carl Couch Center for Social and Internet Research.
