FacultyDarrin Hicks
Background:BA, University of Missouri Interests:Dr. Hicks teaches in the areas of argumentation, rhetoric, cultural studies and the philosophy of communication. His research focuses upon the connections between discourse and democratic theory, public deliberation, and cultural studies. He also has done extensive work in evaluating the role of collaboration in health and educational initiatives, with a particular focus on the influence of collaboration on long-term program outcomes. He has published articles in journals such as Rhetoric and Public Affairs, Cultural Studies, the Quarterly Journal of Speech, Argumentation, Interdisciplinary Description of Complex Systems, and Evaluation Review. He has published monographs on collaboration with Carl Larson with the Colorado Trust and several book chapters on the philosophy of communication. He is currently working on a book, The Other Side of Reason, which is a content analysis of the New York Times editorial page's use of reasonableness from 1860-2006. |
