Experience the Past

History majors are introduced to a variety of approaches to the study of history here at DU. All our majors take courses in different geographical areas and periods while also having the chance to focus on an area of particular interest to them. There are also distinct advantages to studying history at DU.

Senior Seminar

In Senior Seminar, students conduct their own research and present their findings at a year-end conference. Whether you're studying 18th-century newspapers in London or jazz musicians in 1920s Denver, at DU, you work with the original sources.

In the Classroom

Our students learn from professors, not teaching assistants, in small classes. And all our courses stress student participation, not just listening to lectures.

Many Career Choices

With a DU History degree, you'll be prepared for a career in law, business, education and many other fields.

What's Happening

  • Student thesis takes a look at Soviets during Cold War

After World War II, the Soviet Union saw itself as a liberator, rehabilitator, modernizer and deliverer of democracy with a historical right to involve itself in the Baltic states, according to a DU history student.

That's the case senior history major William Burke makes in his recently completed thesis, "Through the Eyes of the Kremlin: The Soviet Union's Involvement in the Baltic States."
