Apply Now--Certificate

Graduate admission to the music certificate programs at the University of Denver is rolling and therefore, there is no formal deadline for graduate applications; however, to be given priority for scholarships and assistantships, your completed application should be submitted by February 18, 2012.

Please submit the following to the University of Denver Office of Graduate Studies:

1. Apply to the University of Denver. If you currently have an undergraduate degree you can apply online at: http://du.edu/apply/graduates. Select ‘Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences.’ For the major or degree, simply select ‘CERT-Graduate Certificate’ then ‘Certificate in Jazz Studies.’

 

2. Application Fee: A $60 non-refundable application fee is required.

 

3. One (1) official transcript from the institution of your highest degree earned. A high school diploma is required; however, an undergraduate degree is not necessary.

Please submit the following to the Lamont School of Music, Office of Admission:

6. Complete the Lamont Certificate Application. Please include with this application, any supporting documentation that you would like faculty to see prior to review of your audition.

 

7. Submit a pre-screening audition DVD or CD following the requirements listed in the subsequent audition section (required of orchestral conducting applicants only). 

 

8. Schedule and complete a live music audition

 

Additional Items for International Students

9. Non-native English speakers, regardless of citizenship, must submit TOEFL or IELTS scores. The language score minimums for Lamont are 6 for the IELTS or 550/80 (PBT/iBT) for the TOEFL.

 

10. All accepted international applicants who will be studying in F-1 status must follow the F-1 immigration regulations. This includes being enrolled full-time for each academic year of studies, regardless of program.

 

11. If you intend to study in F-1 status, a Certificate of Eligibility, Form I-20, will be issued after you have been admitted to the University of Denver and we have received the following documentation from you:

• Photocopy of biographical page from your passport and your dependents’ passports (if you will bring dependents)

You may submit this documentation when submitting your application or after an admission decision is made. Please note that if you decide to wait until a decision is made, it will take longer to prepare the I-20, and you risk not obtaining a visa in time to start the program.
