Lamont School of Music

Choral Conducting Audition Requirements

Audition requirements are the same for MM, AD and Certificate in Performance.

In addition to the general University of Denver and Lamont Graduate Application requirements (which includes the TOEFL for international students), applicants will be required to schedule and attend an audition on March 4th 2010 at the Lamont School of Music.

The audition will consist of:

  1. A conducting audition with the Lamont Chorale, conducting "Blessed are the Men that Fear Him" from Felix Mendelssohn's Elijah and "Lux Arumque" by Eric Whitacre.
  2. Interview with Director of Choral Studies, Catherine Sailer.
  3. A test to determine the candidate's knowledge of choral literature and score analysis skills

We strongly encourage you complete your application to the University of Denver and file the Free Application for Federal Scholarship Aid (FAFSA) form as quickly as possible. You must submit your application to the University of Denver prior to auditioning, as we will not consider you for scholarship until your application is complete and all necessary forms submitted.

We prefer that you attend the audition date byt we will work with you if you have extenuating circumstances and are unable to attend the March 4th audition date. In this case auditions may be made by appointment by contacting Lamont Admissions or submitting an audition video DVD.
