Choral Conducting Audition Requirements

Audition requirements are the same for MM or AD

In addition to the general University of Denver and Lamont graduate application requirements (which include the TOEFL for international students), choral conducting applicants must successfully complete a live conducting audtiion.  Applicants will be invited to schedule and attend a live audition on February 5th, Feb 12th, or March 7th at the Lamont School of Music.

The audition will consist of:

1) Audition with the Lamont Chorale conducting Johannes Brahms, Schaffe in mir, Gott (any edition is fine), and Ivan Hrusovsky Rytmus (Santa Barbara Press SBMP 319)

2) Interview with Director of Choral Studies, Dr. Catherine Sailer

3) A written test to determine the candidate's knowledge of choral literature and score analysis skills

We strongly encourage you complete your application to the University of Denver and file the Free Application for Federal Scholarship Aid (FAFSA) form as quickly as possible. You must submit your online application to the University of Denver prior to auditioning, as we will not consider you for scholarship until your application is complete and all necessary forms submitted.

We prefer that you attend the audition date but we will work with you if you have extenuating circumstances and are unable to attend a February audition date. In this case auditions may be made by appointment by contacting Lamont Admissions or submitting an audition video.
