Audition requirements are the same for MM or AD
In addition to the general University of Denver and Lamont graduate application requirements (which include the TOEFL for international students), applicants must submit a pre-screening. Selected applicants will be invited to schedule and attend a live audition on February 5th or 12th at the Lamont School of Music.
Pre-screening video should consist of footage of you:
1) Conducting two contrasting pieces of any style
2) Leading a rehearsal
Your video should be between 10 and 15 minutes, so you may show only portions of longer works if necessary. Submit your pre-screening audition video via Lamont Audition Drop Box by December 15th.
The Tuesday, February 5th or 12th audition will consist of:
1) Audition with the Lamont Chorale conducting Johannes Brahms, Schaffe in mir, Gott (any edition is fine), and Ivan Hrusovsky Rytmus (Santa Barbara Press SBMP 319)
2) Interview with Director of Choral Studies, Dr. Catherine Sailer
3) Take the written test to determine the candidate's knowledge of choral literature and score analysis skills
We strongly encourage you complete your application to the University of Denver and file the Free Application for Federal Scholarship Aid (FAFSA) form as quickly as possible. You must submit your online application to the University of Denver prior to auditioning, as we will not consider you for scholarship until your application is complete and all necessary forms submitted.
We prefer that you attend the audition date but we will work with you if you have extenuating circumstances and are unable to attend a February audition date. In this case auditions may be made by appointment by contacting Lamont Admissions or submitting an audition video.
