Audition Requirements--Viola

Undergraduate (BM and BA)

  1. Three octave major and minor scales
  2. Three octave major and minor arpeggios
  3. Two contrasting pieces of your choice, minimum difficulty level of: F. A. Hoffmeister, Concerto in D Majo  J. S. Bach, Suites # 1 - 3  J. N. Hummel Fantasy
  4. One etude of your choice, minimum difficulty level of Mazas, Op. 36 or Don't, 24 Studies

Graduate (MM) & Certificate in Performance

  1. Three octave major and minor scales
  2. Three octave arpeggio series (Flesch system or equivalent)
  3. One etude of your choice, minimum difficulty level of Kreutzer, Rode or Campagnoli
  4. Two contrasting movements of an unaccompanied Bach (Suites, Sontas, or Partitas)
  5. A movement of a sonata or concerto, minimum difficulty level of Walton Concerto, Brahms Sonata Opus 120 or  Schubert Arpeggione Sonata
