The Lamont School of Music presents four different concert series, an opera production, and several lectures, presentations and master-classes, all of them open to the public throughout the academic year: Lamont Student Concert Series, Lamont Ensemble Concert Series, Lamont Subscription Concert Series and the Lamont Community Concert Series. The Lamont Master-Classes and Workshop Series are made possible in part by the generous support of the Galen and Ada Belle Spencer Foundation.
Ticketed
The only ticketed events presented by the Lamont School of Music are the Lamont Subscription Concert Series and the opera. The Lamont Subscription Concert Series includes a variety of jazz and classical concerts featuring Lamont faculty members both performers and composers, and guest artists. The Lamont Opera Program and the Lamont Symphony Orchestra present a full-length opera each April with two different castings. Reserved seating is offered at the four presentations of the opera at Gates Concert Hall, with tickets ranging from $10 to $27.
The Lamont School of Music and the University of Denver Theatre Department present in collaboration a musical every winter.
Free
Most of the events presented by Lamont, about 130 every school year, are free admission. The Lamont Student Concert Series, featuring student recitals and presented both at the Williams Recital Salon and at Hamilton Recital Hall. The Lamont Ensemble Concert Series, also free admission, include large student ensembles presented at Gates Concert Hall, like The Lamont Symphony Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, Choruses and Jazz Ensembles each performing multiple concerts annually, and smaller ensembles like percussion, guitar, wind and string chamber ensembles, jazz combos and others presented at Gates Concert Hall, Hamilton Recital Hall and the Williams Recital Salon. The Lamont Community Concert Series are one hour concert at lunch time without intermission presented by faculty, guest artists and students. The Lamont Master-Classes and Workshop Series, with guest artists are also free and open to the general public to observe the classes and workshops.
Lamont Society
The Lamont Society is a membership group for the Lamont School of Music. Every year Lamont offers seven events exclusive to the Lamont Society membership as a benefit for their support to Lamont: four of them are open to the general membership and three are for the members at the Suite Level ($500) or higher only.
