October 14, 2010, 7:30 p.m. - Introducing Jeremy Reynolds

Newly appointed Lamont faculty clarinetist Dr. Jeremy Reynolds, will be making his Lamont debut by presenting an exciting, vibrant collection of solo works for clarinet and piano.

Heidi Brende Leathwood will be collaborating with Dr. Reynolds performing works by Robert Schumann, Francis Poulenc, Carl Nielsen, Gaetano Donizetti, and Johan Kalliwoda.

October 27, 2010, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. - Day at Lamont

One of Lamont's most popular events brought back by popular demand. This year we will feature a presentation by the Musicology Department on how Lamont presents musicology to its students as well as lessons and rehearsals by some of our superb ensembles.

Registration at the Joy Burns Plaza at 8:30 a.m. Continental breakfast will be provided.

March 1, 2011, 7:30 p.m. - Percussion Ensembles

Meet our percussion department faculty, John Kinzie, Mike Marlier and Tom Miller, and Lamont's wonderful percussion students for this exciting lecture/concert on the world of percussion instruments. The event will include classical percussion, jazz drumming and the Lamont Steel Drum Ensemble.

May 10, 2011, 7:30 p.m. - Showcase Lamont

The ever popular Showcase Lamont. A spectacular black-tie evening in honor of the Lamont School of Music's finest students. The evening begins with a champagne welcome and you will meet and greet the student performers at a dazzling reception after the concert.

September 29, 2010, 6:00 p.m. - "The Art of Jazz and Commercial Music"

We begin the 2010 Lamont Society season with a unique opportunity to meet the highly renowned jazz faculty led by Malcolm Lynn Baker, as they discuss the educational process involved in educating tomorrow's jazz and commercial musicians. The discussion will center on how we teach ensemble playing, improvisation, the music business, vocal jazz, the rhythm section and the historic and present styles of America's own music.

January 25, 2011, 6:00 p.m. - "The Art of Conducting"

Meet Lamont conductors Lawrence Golan, Lamont Symphony Orchestra; Catherine Sailer, Lamont Chorale and the Women's Chorus; and Joseph Martin, Lamont Wind Ensemble, as they discuss what it takes to produce conductors in today's competitive musical world.

April 13, 2011, 6:00 p.m. - Opera at Lamont

See the real "Backstage" in a presentation by Kenneth Cox, director of the Lamont Opera Program, along with some of Lamont opera students. The evening will feature a backstage look at the opera set, costumes, make-up and some samples from Lamont's stellar vocal students.
