Day at Lamont
Day at Lamont - one of Lamont's most popular events brought back by popular demand.
This year we will feature a presentation by the musicology department on how Lamont
presents musicology to its students as well as lessons and rehearsals by some of our
superb ensembles.

Pianist Steven Mayer Spectacular: Liszt and His Contemporaries and "The American Liszt"
Join the artist who won the coveted Grand Prix du Disque Liszt for his recording of Liszt’s piano concertos with the London Symphony Orchestra in an evening featuring Liszt, Thalberg, Weber, and Gottschalk. The ever popular Showcase Lamont: A spectacular black-tie evening in honor of the
Lamont School of Music's finest students. The evening begins with a champagne welcome

"Alexander Technique"
Have you ever wondered how musicians survive long hours of practice? Or how they can
keep their cool in performance? Increasingly, musicians around the world are turning
to the Alexander Technique for help with these issues. Get an inside view of how this
century-old technique is helping Lamont students with their practice and performance
in a lecture-demonstration by Heidi Brende Leathwood. Dr. Leathwood, teacher of the
Alexander Technique at Lamont, has given workshops and talks at many universities
around the country and at the International Horn Symposium, the Music Teachers National
Association national convention, and the American Society for the Alexander Technique
national conference.

"The larynx: vocal health issues for singers"
Kate A. Emerich, B.M, M.S., CCC-SLP, will talk about her role as a Voice Pathologist/Singing
Voice Specialist and Lamont Voice Faculty, how she helps the students at Lamont, and
what common voice issues the students encounter. We will actually take a look inside
the larynx at the vocal folds and see them in action making sound. You will leave
with a new appreciation for the voice and how to keep yours healthy and sounding great!
