Sarah Mellander Bierhaus, oboe/English horn, was born and raised in upstate New York. Ms. Bierhaus is the principal oboist of the Boulder Philharmonic and Fort Collins Symphony Orchestras and plays second oboe and English horn in the Central City Opera orchestra.
Jason Lichtenwalter joined the Colorado Symphony as oboist and solo English hornist in 2002. Previous positions include Associate Principal/2nd Oboe with the Honolulu Symphony and Principal Oboe of the Dallas Opera Orchestra.
Ian Wisekal, a native of Long Island, NY, served for three years as Associate Principal/Second Oboe of the Puerto Rico Symphony Orchestra. He can be heard playing principal oboe on the orchestra’s recording of Cofresí, which was nominated for a Latin Grammy. He received his Bachelor of Music degree magna cum laude from the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY and his Master of Music degree from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX, earning full scholarships at both institutions.
