Performing Opportunities

You don't have to be a music major to perform in one of our ensembles! All ensembles are open to audition to the entire University of Denver community. We offer opportunities for all areas of instrumental and vocal performance. The most popular of these include: Lamont Choirs, Lamont Wind Ensemble, Lamont Symphony Orchestra, Jazz Ensembles and DU Pep Band. Please contact the Main Music Office for information on how to sign up for an audition or contact Katie Runkel, Student Coordinator. Auditions typically take place during the first week of Fall, Winter and Spring quarters.

Interested in taking lessons for credit? We offer the opportunity to take lessons as part of any major program for elective credit. Lessons are taught by one of our Graduate Teaching Assistants (GTAs) in many areas. To sign up for these lesson courses please visit the Main Music Office for more information or contact Katie Runkel, Student Coordinator.

All students wishing to pursue a minor in music must audition with the appropriate faculty (for placement in the required ensembles) and take a theory and aural skills placement exam (for placement in the required theory and aural skills courses). The audition can be scheduled at any time during the year. The placement exam is given during the week prior to the start of fall quarter classes. Please contact the Student Affairs Coordinator in the main music office for further information. View the Program of Study for detailed curriculum.

The Lamont School of Music hosts 250 concerts every year. Many of these events are free and open to the public. We invite you to attend as many of our performances as your schedule permits. Please visit our events page for information.
