Certificate in Conducting
The Certificate in Conducting offers professional training in the conducting of Western
art music in the orchestral tradition. The program is intended for post-masters students
who are not yet prepared to enter into an Artist Diploma Program. Students will gain valuable hands-on, actual experience with many of the
extra non-musical activities which conductors and music directors face. These experiences
will include managing orchestra personnel, librarian activities, running auditions,
recruiting, etc.
The Lamont Symphony Orchestra provides a comprehensive and intense learning experience that prepares students for
careers as orchestral musicians. In addition to conducting this award-winning ensemble
in Gates Concert Hall, students also have the opportunity to work closely with conductor
and music director Dr. Lawrence Golan. Students are invited to explore our website or contact us at any time to learn more
about this exciting opportunity; studying your passion – Music – at Lamont.
