Master of Music in Conducting
OrchestralThe Lamont Symphony Orchestra provides a comprehensive and intense learning experience that prepares students for careers as orchestral musicians. In addition to conducting this award-winning ensemble in Gates Concert Hall, students also have the opportunity to work closely with conductor and music director Dr. Lawrence Golan. ChoralChoral conducting students have the opportunity to study with Dr. Catherine Sailer, conductor of the Lamont Chorale, the Lamont Woman's Chorus, and director of choral studies at Lamont. Students will also have the opportunity to conduct these outstanding ensembles in the spectacular Gates Concert Hall. WindWind conducting students have the opportunity to study with Dr. Joseph Martin, conductor of the award-winning Lamont Wind Ensemble and director of choral studies at Lamont. The Master of Music in Conducting program at the Lamont School of Music, offers professional
training in the conducting of Western art music in orchestral, choral and wind traditions.
Students will gain valuable hands-on experience with many of the extra-musical activities
which conductors and music directors face. These experiences will include managing
orchestra personnel, librarian activities, running auditions, recruiting, etc.
