Bachelor of Arts in Music
In the Bachelor of Arts program at the Lamont School of Music, students can explore
their musical curiosity and performance aspirations, while having flexibility as to
where they invest the sharpest and deepest of their intellectual inquiries and creative
endeavors. Approximately 1/3 of coursework is involved with music, while 2/3 of courses
will be in the liberal arts. Additional undergraduate opportunities are especially
rich for study and a potential double major in the arts, humanities, social sciences
and natural sciences. The BA also boasts 3+2 programs that allow students to complete
both the Bachelor of Arts in music and a master's degree in either Education (BA/MA)
or, Business (BA/MBA) in 5 years. Because the BA contains a performance component,
an audition is required. All music majors study individually with faculty.
Students can choose from any of the following areas of study. Double Bass, Bassoon,
Cello, Clarinet, Composition, Flute, Guitar, Harp, Horn, Jazz (any instrument or voice),
Oboe, Organ, Percussion, Piano, Saxophone, Trombone, Trumpet, Tuba, Viola, Violin
and Voice.
