In the University Program, students can explore music and other areas of study. At the same time, students have much latitude as to where they wish to invest the sharpest and deepest of their intellectual inquiries and creative endeavors.
In the Bachelor of Arts program, approximately 1/3 of your courses will be involved with music, while 2/3 of your courses will be in the liberal arts. Additional undergraduate opportunities for study and a potential double major in the arts, humanities, social sciences and natural sciences are especially rich. The University Program also boasts 3+2 programs that allow students to complete both the BA in music and a master's degree, within 5 years. For 3+2, Lamont partners with the Colleges of Education (BA/MA) and Business (BA/MBA).
The BA still contains a performance component and thus an audition is required. You can choose either jazz or classical bass. The audition requirements are exactly the same as the Bachelor of Music program.
As a jazz bass student, you will have the opportunity to study with one of the best in the field, Ken Walker. As a Double Bass student, you will have the opportunity to study with a member of the Colorado Symphony Orchestra, John Arnesen and perform under the baton of Maestro Lawrence Golan in the spectacular Gates Concert Hall. Studios are kept small so students enjoy a wealth of performance time.
You are invited to explore our website to learn more about this exciting opportunity of studying music at Lamont.
