As we end our second successful year of the Lamont Society and enter a year of some economic uncertainty, most universities have taken measured precautions about how to deal with any economic situation. DU is not exception and our administration has done an admirable job in taking the necessary steps to ensure that our educational mission remains intact.
However, there is very little room at this time for growth and costly visions. In spite of the times we live in, the Lamont School of Music has a vision for the 21st century that cannot be ignored or put off. We continue to need membership support for the very essentials of music education such as musical instruments and their repair, guest artist honoraria, updated music technology and internationalization initiatives.
On the endowment end of the spectrum, Lamont continues to receive bequests and state gifts and our vision for the 21st century is dependent on endowments in student scholarships, faculty chairs, facilities, programs and special visionary programs which will set Lamont apart from other music schools.
I am so thankful of all the special friends who have made the past 2 years so successful and who have diligently attended our concerts and ravel about our faculty and student performances.
So, as difficult as the economic situation might be, now, more than ever, is the time to help propel our momentum. Please consider carefully your membership category and how you can help through a membership, bequest or endowment gift. Our stewardship of your support is proven each day one concert at a time.
