The Lamont Society -Welcome

Lamont Society

From the President

Michael McGoldrick Lamont Society PresidentWelcome to the Lamont School of Music. I hope you will accept our invitation to join The Lamont Society. The Lamont School of Music is a gem at DU, and a gift to the greater Denver population. The Lamont Society is the very best way to join this fine community. The Lamont School of Music and especially the Lamont Society have brought joy to me and have opened a door to a marvelous world of concerts and events and people.

2012-13 is not only the 10th anniversary of the Newman Center, but we have broadened the direct benefits of membership. All six of our Lamont Society Membership Events are open to our entire membership, and when you join, you'll receive invitations to each event in the mail.

The Lamont Society has made me a part of a wonderful community of music lovers, made it possible for me to attend the marvelous benefits of membership, and also introduced me to the hundreds of performances, recitals and concerts that occur at the Newman Center each year. I hope and expect that it will do the same for you.

The leadership group of the Lamont Society has also found that the Lamont School of Music is a very worthy object of their charitable support. In my case Lamont has allowed me to contribute to three separate causes in one package – higher education, the presentation of cultural events to the Denver community, and increased appreciation of other cultures and musical traditions.

Please join us. I look forward to meeting you and talking about giving your passions their voice.

From the Director

Nancy Cochran Director LamontAs I begin my second year as Director of the Lamont School of Music, I continue to be impressed by the enthusiastic and essential support for our programs that is provided by the Lamont Society

This year we celebrate the first decade of the Lamont School of Music's beautiful home. Every day as I walk from the rehearsal areas and classrooms of Virginia E. Trevorrow Hall and through Joy Burns Plaza to the breathtaking June Swaner Gates Concert Hall and the Hamilton Recital Hall, I am stunned by the beauty and majesty of this building. These walls inspire the excellence we strive for in our performances and the dedication to learning and discovery that fills our classrooms. What a wonderful place for our students to thrive and grow!

My hope is that you also will feel at home, visit often, and be inspired by the Robert and Judi Newman Center for the Performing Arts. Happy tenth anniversary!
