Background:

Li Li Peters was educated in China and the United States; and received her doctorial degree in Asia Languages and Cultures from the University of California, Los Angeles in 2007.  She has taught a wide range of courses in the department of Languages and Literatures and that of general education.  She has compiled and translated two volumes of English poetry and poetry criticism.  Her research interests and academic publications include modern Chinese literature, gender studies, popular culture and translation studies.  Her upcoming project explores trauma and the politics of memory in the representations of the Chinese Cultural Revolution in post-Mao China.

Translation theories and practices; Chinese literature; cinema studies and gender studies with a focus on the semiotic and ideological constructs of women in Chinese cultural practice; the politics of cultural memories and representations of trauma in post-Mao China
