- GERM 2005 Reading and Conversation (4 credits)
- Learning ease of expression in German through reading literary works and newspaper and magazine articles; readings and contemporary issues discussed in class. Prerequisite: GERM 2002 or equivalent.
- GERM 2010 German Civilization (4 credits)
- Highlights of German culture as reflected in literature, music and art and philosophy. Emphasis on 20th century history, current political and social issues. Prerequisite: GERM 2002 or equivalent.
- GERM 2100 Conversation and Composition (4 credits)
- Intensive practice in oral skills, reading and writing. Prerequisite: GERM 2005 or equivalent.
- GERM 2250 Techniques of Translation (4 credits)
- Introduction to the art of translation from German and work with practical techniques to obtain stylistically correct translations. Prerequisite: GERM 2100 or equivalent.
- GERM 2350 German Film (4 credits)
- Analysis of selected films centered on major themes in the humanities. Prerequisite: GERM 2100 or equivalent.
- GERM 2500 German Realism (4 credits)
- Selected works of prose, poetry, and drama in German- speaking countries.
- GERM 2701 Topics in German Literature (4 credits)
- Selected authors or movements in literature of German- speaking world. May be repeated for credit. Prerequisite: GERM 2100 or equivalent.

- Selected work of post-war German literature. Prerequisite: GERM 2100.
