Since 2003, the Free Form Film Festival (FFFF) has toured North America showing diverse films and videos to diverse audiences. In 2012, the FFFF touches down in Denver with a six-screening series that includes in person presentations from Mike Kuchar, Craig Baldwin, Jennifer Kroot and Jamie Meltzer. The festival is curated by FFFF founder and DU Lecturer/Postdoctoral Fellow Tyrone Davies.

Jamie Meltzer’s documentary films include Off the Charts: the Song-Poem Story, Welcome to Nollywood, and La Caminata. He is currently in post-production on a feature documentary titled Informant, about a revolutionary activist turned FBI informant. Meltzer’s work has shown at Silverdocs and the True/False Film Festivals among others and has aired on PBS. He is an assistant professor at Stanford University.

FILM: Please Self-Help Me!
Blair Sterrett started the Lost Media Archive in the unlikely location of Salt Lake City UT seven years ago. The LMA is dedicated to the preservation of bygone media formats and ephemeral films and videos. Please Self Help Me! is Sterrett’s curated “clip-show” of bizarre, humorous, and culturally telling moments from the era of the VHS self help market.

FILM: Other Cinema with Marsico visiting artist, Craig Baldwin in person! Craig Baldwin is an experimental filmmaker and curator known for high-energy found footage works of culture-jamming like Spectres of the Spectrum and Sonic Outlaws. He is also known for his San Francisco-based film series, Other Cinema. On this evening, Baldwin brings Other Cinema to Denver. Expect to see a variety of truly underground films and videos!

Mike Kuchar and Jennifer Kroot visit Denver in person to present It Came From Kuchar, as well as a collection of shorts by Mike Kuchar. The Kuchar legacy has inspired multiple underground and independent film movements and makers such as John Waters, WayneWang, Guy Maddin, Atom Egoyan (and countless others). Come and catch a slice of experimental film history! Both Kuchar and Kroot appear via the Marsico Visiting Scholars Program.
