The Bachelor of Arts in Media Studies degree is designed for students who want to gain a broad knowledge of media industries and of media studies grounded in history, foundations, globalization and cutting-edge media theory. It is also intended to take advantage of the particular skills and resources of the faculty in the Department of Media, Film & Journalism Studies. Contemporary communications media-including traditional mass media as well as interactive and digital media-are integral to political, economic and cultural life today. The major emphasizes coursework that examines the role and influence of media in society from various perspectives.
