Internships

The University is in a major American city, with opportunities to intern with advocacy groups, the state legislature, the mayor's office, the governor's office, and the district attorney's office.  Students have also worked on campaigns for public officials and ballot initiatives, and several of our students interned with the Democratic National Convention in Denver during the summer of 2008.  Students find internships invaluable in connecting the learning they do in the classroom to the world of governing, and we encourage our students to do internships.  To earn academic credit for their coursework, we offer a fall Campaign Internship Seminar during each major election year and also coordinate with the Department of Sociology to offer internship seminars during fall, winter, and spring quarters for legal and political offices.
