Joint PhD

Pursue our DU/Iliff Joint PhD and benefit from the strengths of two institutions. In our joint doctoral program, you will partner with accomplished faculty from both the University of Denver and the Iliff School of Theology.

You will prepare for a career in academia or the public or private sector. Cultivate your skills in research, cross-cultural analytics and religious understandings.

We have designed our doctoral program to be responsive to contemporary movements in theological and religious studies. Partner with us to create an individualized program that allows you both breadth and specialization.

Choose from one of our four concentrations

  • Biblical Interpretation
  • Religion and Psychological Studies
  • Religion and Social Change
  • Theology, Philosophy and Cultural Theory

We also offer a certificate program in Latina/o Studies.

Enjoy a rich variety of doctoral colloquia, interdisciplinary team teaching, research seminars, independent study, special lectures and events. Our doctoral students are highly active in the professional organizations of our field. In 2012, numerous Joint PhD students presented papers at the American Academy of Religion annual conference, the Middle East Studies Association annual meeting, and the Society for Biblical Literature's annual conference.
