Bachelor of Arts in Digital Media Studies

The first program of its kind, digital media studies at the University of Denver develops the minds of highly literate critical thinkers adept at the use of digital media for problem solving and creative expression.

Established in 1996 as a partnership among the School of Communication, the School of Art and Art History and the Department of Computer Science, the digital media studies program involves students in cutting-edge exploration of the design and production of digital media. Students also critically investigate the technological, social, political, legal, cultural, and individual issues related to the uses of these media.

Students graduating with a degree in digital media studies are well suited to take advantage of expanding job possibilities in web development, graphic design, digital video production, instructional media, interactive media, multimedia production, and more, both within and outside of the digital media industries.

DMS graduates are well prepared to address the many challenges faced by corporations, small businesses, government agencies, nonprofit organizations, and educational institutions as they venture into the digital future. Students also are prepared to enter a wide array of advanced degree programs in such academic fields as communication, cultural studies, information studies, business, and design.
