Breakfast with the Chancellor
Meet the University of Denver’s 18th Chancellor, Dr. Rebecca Chopp. Dr. Chopp brings to the University more than 20 years of experience in higher education leadership, most recently as president of Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania. Before assuming the presidency of Swarthmore in 2009, she served as president of Colgate University, dean of the Yale Divinity School, and provost and executive vice president for academic affairs at Emory University. Help us welcome Dr. Chopp to the Pioneer community.
Enjoy the fall colors and crisp mountain air at this afternoon outdoor carnival celebrating all things DU. Stroll down Driscoll Green with your family and friends while taking part in lawn games, an inflatable bounce house for kids, face painting, live performances from student bands, and local food from Denver’s popular food truck community. Learn more about what the University has to offer alumni, parents and students at the information tables. Be sure to wear your crimson and gold and show off your Pioneer pride.
Taste of DU and Athletics Hall of Fame
You’ll be amazed by the diversity of delicious local fare at this indoor festival. This annual, family-friendly event showcases Colorado restaurants and businesses, many of which are alumni-owned or operated. Approximately 500 Pioneer alumni, parents and friends are expected to attend this year’s event, which will also feature the Athletics Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony complemented by DJ music, giveaways and activities for little Pioneers.
University Of Denver Athletic Scholarship Golf Tournament
In further celebration of the University of Denver's Sesquicentennial, the annual Floyd M. Theard Memorial Golf Tournament will be played on Friday, October 31 as a part of the Homecoming and Family Weekend. The tournament will take place at the home of Pioneer golf, the Highlands Ranch Golf Club (9000 Creekside Way, Littleton, CO). The tournament is set to begin at 10:00 a.m. with a shotgun start for all participants. Foursomes are $400 and individuals can sign up for $100. The event includes lunch, with gifts and awards for all in attendance. As in previous years, all proceeds and donations from the outing benefit the fifth-year aid and summer scholarship fund for DU student-athletes. Those who are unable to attend may donate directly to the tournament or perhaps register for one of the $300 hole sponsorships.
The Floyd M. Theard Memorial Golf Tournament honors one of the all-time great men's basketball coaches in Pioneer history. Theard posted a 107-38 record as head coach from 1980-85. He ranks first all-time in winning percentage (.738) and third in wins. Theard led the Pioneers to a school best 79-game home winning streak from 1981-84.
