Position Descriptions

Team 1864

Team 1864 members lead daily campus tours and assist with the Journey to DU and Pioneer Day visit programs. Responsibilities include telling the story of DU traditions as well as the latest innovations. Team members must have strong communication skills and be able to create a positive, lasting impression of the DU community with prospective students and parents. Members will be required to lead 1-3 tours per week and attend weekly team meetings. Individual schedules can be re-adjusted every quarter as tour guides' class schedules change. Applicants must have undergraduate standing.

Compensation: Team 1864 members will be required to work 3-7 hours per week and will be paid $10/hour.

Admission Communication Team

The Admission Communication Team will spend Monday-Thursday evenings (5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.) on the phone, calling prospective students and parents for a variety of reminders, confirmations and application assistance. Members will also assist with the Journey to DU and Pioneer Day visit programs. Other responsibilities include telling the story of DU-traditions as well as the latest innovations. Team members must have strong communication skills and be able to create a positive, lasting impression of the DU community with prospective students and parents. Members will be required to work two nights a week. Individual schedules can be re-adjusted every quarter as class schedules change. Applicants must have undergraduate standing.

Compensation: Admission Communication Team members will be required to work 6-8 hours per week and will be paid $10/hour.

Student Bloggers

DU Student Bloggers will share their experiences with prospective students and families by keeping a current blog of their activities and experiences at DU. Responsibilities include telling the story of DU traditions as well as the latest innovations. Bloggers must have strong communication skills and be able to create a positive, lasting impression of the DU community with prospective students and parents. Bloggers will be required to post new content at least three times a week and include photos and videos as appropriate. Applicants must have undergraduate standing.

Compensation: Student bloggers will be required to post at least 3 blogs per week and will be paid $10/post.

Admission Fellows

Admission Fellows are an important part of Undergraduate Admission in representing the University of Denver. General responsibilities include working with prospective students, parents, and high school counselors through information sessions, campus visits, phone work, as well as a variety of other duties. It is preferred, but not required for all positions, that students be in their junior or senior year with previous office experience and good presentation/communication skills. Applicants are expected to dress professionally and must be available for the entire 2013-2014 academic year. The position requires 15-20 hours per week of office time. Some evenings or weekends will also be required. However, specific weekly schedules will be determined each quarter. All Fellows will be responsible for these general duties, but the following program responsibilities will be assigned to individual Fellows based on specific strengths, interests, and skills:

o Communication Team Fellow will report to the Assistant Director of Communication and the Director of Communication and supervise the Admission Communication Team (ACT). ACT is responsible for communicating with prospective students and their families about visit programs, reminders, confirmations, and the completion of application materials. The Fellow and ACT will also use social media to communicate with prospective students. This position will also work with the Program Visit Fellow to coordinate arrangements for daily visits (overnight stays, class visits, lunches, etc). This position will consist of work through the day, but the majority of the hours will be in the evening with ACT. Applicants are required to be in their junior or senior year.

o Diversity Enrollment Fellow will report to the Executive Director of Diversity Enrollment and will actively seek and participate in multicultural events and community programs. This position will also assist with College Summit, Daniels Fund, and other outreach programs within the DU community and around the Denver metropolitan area.

o Media Fellow will report to the Associate Director of Communication and the Director of Communication, and oversees student bloggers. He or she will help with the orientation and training of student bloggers, review posted content, and report analytics. This person acts as a liaison to students for admission communication projects, assists in the generation of communications content and the production of student-based video content, and recruits students for new initiatives to fulfill the DU brand focus. This can include videos, spotlight profiles, news stories, research stories, and brand trait fulfillment. Experience with Final Cut or video production software preferred.

o Program Visit Fellow will report to the Senior Associate Director of Admission and assist in organizing and executing all of the aspects involved with our day-long visit programs, Journey to DU, and Pioneer Days. This Fellow will manage online registrations and confirmations, as well as arrange overnight visits, student panels, breakfast and lunch with prospective students. The Program Visit Fellow will also assist with programs catered to high school counselors such as group tours and day-long visit programs. Applicants are required to be in their junior or senior year.

o Group Visit Fellow will report to the Assistant Director of Admission and assist in organizing and executing all of the aspects involved with group visit requests. This fellow will manage online visit registrations and confirmations, arrange student tour guides and student panels, and assist with daily information sessions, as well as a variety of other duties. Applicants are required to be in their junior or senior year.

Compensation: Admission Fellows will receive a $2500 tuition stipend and will earn an additional hourly rate. They will be required to work 15-20 hours per week and will be paid $12/hour.

  • Carousel Interview Day for all applicants: Sunday, May 5, 1:30pm-5:00pm
    This carousel type interview will include a traditional one on one interview and a group process experience.
