Vice Chancellor For Enrollment
Tom Willoughby has served as Vice Chancellor for Enrollment at the University of Denver since 2004. Prior to joining the University of Denver, he served in numerous roles including Vice President for Admission & Financial Aid at Drake University for 20 years.
Tom has experience directing enrollment efforts at a small liberal arts college, regional comprehensive university and a national research university.
Willoughby has actively contributed to the profession at both the state, regional and national levels. He is a Past President of the Iowa Association of Admission Counselors. He has also served on an advisory board for the Iowa College Aid Commission and also served as chair of the Iowa ACT Advisory Council. At the national level Tom has served on numerous committees for the National Association of College Admission Counselors. He also served on an advisory board for US New and World Report and more recently served on the University of Denver Strategic Issues Panel on Higher Education.
He is a regular presenter at regional and national conferences.
Tom has received numerous awards including the Distinguished Service Award from the Iowa Association of College Admission Counselors and the Outstanding College Representative of the Year Award from the Iowa Association of Counseling and Development. He has also received The Donald V. Adams Spirit of Drake Award and the Outstanding Administrator Award by the Center for Multicultural Excellence, University of Denver.
Willoughby earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Dubuque and his master’s degree in counseling from Loras College.
He lives in Castle Pines, Colorado, with his wife, Karla. He enjoys traveling, hiking, fly-fishing and golf among other activities.
