Check Your Status

You can check the status of your financial aid online. Learn how to check the status of your application, see if we have everything we need to send you a financial aid award offer and find out when you can expect to receive your aid.

Status of Your Financial Aid Application

How can I check to see if my FAFSA has been processed?

You will receive a confirmation page, with a confirmation number, after your application is successfully submitted. If you provided an email address on your application, you may choose to have the confirmation page emailed to you. It can take up to 3-5 business days for your FAFSA to be processed by the U.S. Department of Education. To check the status of your FAFSA online:

  1. Go to www.fafsa.gov.
  2. Click on "Start Here" and log in.
  3. Review the current application status to ensure it reads "processed successfully."

Alternatively, you can call the Federal Student Aid Information Center at 1-800-4-FED-AID.

If your FAFSA is still being processed, wait a few days and check the status again. If you made a mistake or need to make changes to your FAFSA after you have submitted it, follow the directions above and click on "Make FAFSA Correction."

How can I check to see if DU has received my application?

It can take 7-10 business days for DU to receive your FAFSA and/or CSS PROFILE*. To see if we've received your application:

  1. Go to http://webCentral.du.edu.
  2. Log in using your DU ID# and passcode.
    • If this is your first time logging into webCentral, your passcode will be your 6-digit birthday in the MMDDYY format.
  3. Go to the Student tab.
    • If you are a new undergraduate student, go to the Admitted Students tab.
    • If you are a new graduate student, go to the Incoming Grad Dashboard tab.
  4. Review the "Financial Aid Requirements" box to the right of the screen. If you see the FAFSA and/or CSS PROFILE listed there--with a green check mark in the "Status" column--we have received your application. (Be sure you are viewing the correct aid year.)

*The CSS PROFILE is only required for traditional undergraduate students. While this application is available beginning October 1st, we are not able to update your account until after January 1st.

I was selected for verification. How can I verify DU has received all of my documents?

If you were selected for verification, we will need a Federal Verification Worksheet and an IRS Tax Return Transcript (as well as those of your parents if you are dependent undergraduate) before we can send you a financial aid award offer. It can take up to 3 business days for your DU account to reflect submitted documents. To verify that we've received your materials:

If there are green check marks* in the "Status" column on your requirements, then we have received your documents.

*Please note that the "Verification" requirement will still have a red flag--even if we've received all necessary documents--until your account has been reviewed by an advisor. There is no further action needed on your part.

Status of Your Financial Aid Award

How can I make sure I've completed everything so I get my financial aid on time?

Once you have accepted your financial aid award, there may be additional requirements you need to complete before your aid can pay into your student account. For example, if you are borrowing a Direct subsidized or unsubsidized loan for the first time, you will need to complete both a Master Promissory Note and Entrance Counseling online at www.studentloans.gov.  To see if there are unsatisfied requirements:

  1. Go to http://webCentral.du.edu.
  2. Log in using your DU ID# and passcode.
  3. Go to the Student tab.
    • If you are a new undergraduate student, go to the Admitted Students tab.
    • If you are a new graduate student, go to the Incoming Grad Dashboard tab.
  4. Review the "Financial Aid Requirements" box to the right of the screen. If there are any red flags listed in the "Status" column, further action is required. Click on that item to learn more.

You can also see a list of your requirements with more detail by going to your Financial Aid Profile. While on the Student tab:

  1. Click on "Financial Aid Profile"
  2. Choose "Documents, Requirements and Eligibility Status"
  3. Select the appropriate aid year (if asked).
  4. Review each requirement, it's current status, when that status was last updated and the instructions for that item.

Note: If you recently completed a requirement, your webCentral account will not be updated instantly. Please allow up to two business days for your account to reflect this update.

When will I receive my financial aid and refund?

Typically, provided all requirements are satisfied, your financial aid will disburse to your student account no sooner than 10 days prior to the start of every term. If the amount of aid that pays is greater than the amount you owe to DU, you will receive a refund for the difference. This refund is not generated until 2-3 days after disbursement.

You can see the expected disbursement date of your financial aid by going to your Financial Aid Profile. To see these dates:

  4. Click on "Financial Aid Profile."
  5. Click on "View your Aid Payment Schedule."

The "Expected Date" is the date on which you can expect your financial aid to pay to your DU student account. This is not the date you will receive a refund if you are expecting one. Your refund will be generated 2-3 business days after disbursement. You can also review how much is expected to pay, as well as how much has paid to date for past terms.
