This is not a Cherrington-eligible study abroad program.
Applications will be evaluated on the basis of a student's academic transcript, quality and depth of the four essay questions, and general preparedness for the program. Sophomores (by fall 2014) will be considered on an individual basis. Personal interviews may be required as necessary. All students must be in good academic and judicial standing at DU. Program is limited to 25 students.
How to apply for ASEM 2518 Exploring Italy:
Complete Application Form
Fill out on-line form, print it out, and get your academic advisor's signature (available on School of Art website). Bring this form and the additional forms indicated below, plus a $600 deposit check payable to "Travel Square One" to Jason Kellermeyer, in the main office, School of Art and Art History, 2121 E. Asbury. Your deposit will be returned if you are not accepted into the program.
Complete four short answer essays: On a separate sheet, please answer the following questions.
1) How does this program fit into your academic plans?
2) What is your interest in this particular program and location?
3) Why are you a good candidate for this program? What have you done to prepare for your study abroad experience?
4) List at least 3 specific things you know about Italy (historical or cultural)
Complete Student Responsibility Statement
Complete Student Conduct Policy statement
Complete Verification of Completion of Judicial Sanctions to Study Abroad (if applicable)
NOTE: each applicant's judicial status will be verified
All accepted students will be automatically registered for both ARTH/ENGL 2613 (Ways of Knowing) and for ASEM 2815 (Writing Intensive). Indicate your preference for either ARTH 2613 or ENGL 2613.
If you do not yet have a passport, apply for one immediately!
When accepted, complete the following:
Information Regarding Medical and Other Needs (if applicable)
Obtain an SOS card through International House or online.
