Please join us on January 9 from 5 to 7 PM
for the opening reception of A Decade of Gifts & Discoveries.
The show will run from January 10 through March 9.
Many will be surprised to learn about the extent of DU's art collections, which began to accumulate soon after the founding of the University's School of Art in 1880. They will be even more surprised to see the breadth and depth of materials donated during the decade leading up to 2014, DU's Sesquicentennial year. Additional delights include artworks rediscovered after many years languishing in basements, attics and dark corners – even under layers of housepaint! In the upcoming exhibition, A Decade of Gifts and Discoveries, visitors can experience new acquisitions to the University Art Collections as they have never been seen before in one magnificent, salon-style exhibition.
The exhibition will include recent gifts of works by Vito Acconci, Earl Biss, Donald Judd, Maria Martinez, JMW Turner and Andy Warhol and rediscovered works by Ridgway Knight, Marie Laurencin and Aristide Maillol.
