Adrian has eight years of experience in nonprofit development and has worked in the United States and countries around the world. Adrian is fluent in Portuguese and has studied French, Italian and Marathi (dialect of India). Recently she participated in Leadership Denver and Institute for Leaders in Development. She was also the youngest member of the Rotary Club of Denver Mile High and a founding member of the Colorado College Rotaract.
Adrian began in nonprofit development as a manager of the El Pomar Foundation Youth in Community Service program. The foundation modeled fundraising best practice and inspired a deep commitment to serving others. The following year, Adrian became the first in her family to attend college with a full merit scholarship from the El Pomar Foundation to study Public Policy and international non-profit administration at the Colorado College. Adrian travelled and worked overseas extensively including Peru, Indonesia, India, Brazil, Italy, England and more.
Upon graduation in 2004, Adrian returned to Brazil to work for a nonprofit providing the favelas (ghettos) of Brazil with basic necessities like clean water, literacy education and job training. In 2006 she competed with thousands of international applicants to receive one of 60 Rotary International Foundation Fellowships. The fellowship fully funded a two-year Master’s Degree scholarship at the University of Bradford in England. After completing her studies in International Politics and Security Studies, Adrian graduated in 2007 with Honors. She completed an internship with the United Nations then returned home to be closer to family and work for the Denver Rescue Mission, the oldest organization providing food, clothing and shelter for the homeless in the Western United States. Now as a member of the University of Denver team, Adrian is a Director of Development for West Coast alumni and friends.
