Chari Severns assumed the role of Director of Prospect Management and Research in June 2012. In that role, she works closely with University Advancement leadership and development staff to build and administer a sustainable and collaborative university-wide prospect management system.
Chari began her advancement career at the University of Missouri-Columbia. She entered the prospect research world in 2001 in the University of Missouri-Columbia's Prospect Research Department. After holding a variety of positions, she became Manager of Development Research playing an integral role during the university's successful $1 billion campaign. After becoming involved in a corporate research project, she took a position as Director of Corporate and Foundation Gifts at Stephens College, where she served as a grant writer and corporate fundraiser. In 2012, she enthusiastically returned to prospect research by taking the role as Director of Prospect Management & Research at the historic University of Denver.
She has been an active leader in nonprofit professional organizations. In 2013, she served as a conference speaker at the Association for Professional Researchers for Advancement (APRA) International Conference in Baltimore, MD. In 2005, she served as co-chair for the prospect management track of the APRA International Conference in San Diego, CA. As a volunteer for APRA MO-KAN she served as membership director, president, and past president. In addition, she regularly discusses best practices with colleagues around the nation to improve current processes and develop innovative policies to create a sophisticated, donor-centered moves management operation.
Chari received a BA in political science and a master of public affairs degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia. In her free time, she enjoys creative writing, reading, and taking in all of the wonderful cultural activities Denver has to offer.
